When my family visited Florence, we also took a day trip to the nearby Pisa. By train, it was only about an hour and thirty minutes away! Since my mother’s knee is a little bad, I climbed up the roughly 300 steps of the Leaning Tower on my own. The view from the tiny town at the top was incredible and I definitely recommend it. Afterwards, the two of us went inside the Cathedral of Pisa and the Baptistery. Conveniently all three of these sites were located in the same plaza that you can get to by bus from the train station. We stopped for lunch at one of the nearby shops. I suggest that rather than eat at one of the disgusting tourist traps next door you either bring a packed lunch like a sandwich and fruit or go back to Florence for lunch where you can get a more appetizing meal that’s worth the cost. All in all, I was glad I finally got to see the iconic Leaning Tower, so if you’re ever in Florence, Pisa is a nearby site to see and only a short train ride away!
