Happy New Year
everyone!! Usually, I’m not the biggest fan of New Year’s Resolutions. I
figure, if you need to change something, why wait? Why not do it now? The more
I thought about it though, the more I saw the positive “new year, new you” idea
behind resolutions. Whether you had your resolutions laid out weeks ago or
decide to set goals in the coming weeks, here’s how to achieve that fresh start
in 2015.
Plan ahead. Make
a list. You’ll not only remember your goals, but feel accomplished for checking
them off. Remember, though, to focus on small, concrete goals towards your
resolution to make them easier to tackle. Using a planner also helps me set
aside time to accomplish those goals, so I’m more likely to finish the tasks at
hand.
Ask for Support.
Sometimes a solo effort is not enough, which is why it’s okay to bring in extra
help. You’re more accountable and thus more likely to uphold your resolutions
if you tell others. I also believe that telling people makes your goals seem
real and possible, especially when friends support and believe in your dreams
too.
Accept setbacks.
Challenges arise, but what’s important is to not let those setbacks derail you
from your goals. Rather, decide that tomorrow is a new day, thus a new chance
to make your resolutions a reality.
Be proud of
yourself. While we all encounter
challenges, we also experience accomplishments. Celebrating the milestones will
motivate you to keep working towards your resolution. Before you know it,
you’ll find yourself at the tail end of 2015 looking back on a successful and
amazing year.
